Who should be NFL Offensive Rookie of the year?

When it comes to recent rookies in the NFL, there are not a lot of players who stand out like Odell Beckham Jr. did last year.  Labeled the only rookie to “run the entire route tree” by Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman, he only played in 12 games!  He fended off Mike Evans, from the Buccaneers, and some Guard named Zack Martin, from the Cowboys, in the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the year voting.  It was not even close. Beckham got 42 votes, Zack Martin got 7, Mike Evans 1.  Personally, I am not sure why a guard was even in the running, but as a former linemen in the NFL I am proud that he represented all fat guys so well.

Back to rookies.  There is a player, named Thomas Rawls, that is making some waves.  He has been filling in for “Beast Mode” most of the year and he is balling.

He has only started 5 games so far this year and he is already in the top ten of rushing.  What’s more impressive is this:  he is the first player in NFL history with more than 250 yards, a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown in the same game.  History!  Can you say #FIRE!  I love watching Marshawn running the pill so at worst, the Seahawks have a stable in the barn they can count on.  Not sure if he will end up as rookie of the year, considering the other young players that are emerging (Amari Cooper, Jameis Winston, Todd Gurley, etc) but he just outplayed Adrian Petersen so you never know.

The choice for 2014 NFL offensive rookie of the year was an easy one.

Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who shook off an injury-plagued start of the season to become one of the league’s most exciting playmakers, has been named the NFL’s offensive rookie of the year. The award was announced on Saturday night at the NFL Honors event in Phoenix.

The award went to Beckham, who “got 42 of the 50 votes”. Second was Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin with seven votes while Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans got the last vote. Beckham and Hill, along with wide receiver Jarvis Landry, were teammates at LSU last year.

“We’d be in the middle of our game and they would be playing and I’d be looking up at the (scoreboard) trying to see what they’re doing, trying to see if they scored,” Beckham said. “Those are like my brothers. I want to see them be successful. We’re really very tight.”

Beckham said there was no competition with Hill’s five 100-yard games.

“That’s like a brother of mine, we just want to see each other do well,” he said. “Look out for Jarvis, too. He’s a beast down in Miami.

You’ve probably seen by now the ridiculous three fingered catch Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. made while getting mugged by Cowboys CB Brandon Carr. Carr was arrested on attempted robbery charges and Beckham STILL caught the ball with three freakin fingers and scored.

Immaculate Moments Beckham Grab Blog

It was the catch caught ’round the world. Odell Beckham Jr.’s reality-defying one-handed touchdown grab on Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys — while being interfered with, falling backward and seemingly using the matrix to come down in bounds — was quite possibly the greatest catch the world has ever seen.

The catch — and the world’s immediate reaction to it — created nothing less than a social media frenzy and turned the bionic Beckham into an international sensation almost instantly. The fact that Beckham Jr.’sNew York Giants wound up losing the game, 31-28, did nothing to dampen a buzz that seemed to grow into the wee hours of Monday morning.
