Update 1:30 p.m.: The Seahawks have landed in Arizona, multiple social media reports from the team indicate.

Original post: Thousands of Seahawk fans lined a mile-long stretch of road in SeaTac Sunday morning to cheer on the team as it headed for the airport and Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona.

The Seahawks, in a caravan of several cars and chartered buses with tinted windows, rolled slowly by the intersection of South 188th Street and 42nd Avenue in SeaTac at about 10 a.m., led by police on motorcycles.

Cheering fans shoved flags, handheld signs and cell phones into the air as the buses approached. Horns blared over the roar of voices. From behind the closed windows of the buses, people waved and took photos of the crowd.

Fans decked in blue and green hollered call and response cheers — “Sea!” and “Hawks!” — across South 188th Street, which was closed for a mile between about 46th Avenue South and 28th Avenue South to all traffic except the team’s caravan.

“I’m really hoping I can help (the team) believe in themselves, by showing I believe in them,” said Keith Schlyer, 28, wearing a bright green wig and hoisting a Seahawks flag along the route. He walked a mile from his house in SeaTac to see the team drive by. “Confidence inspires courage, and that’s what we need on the field.”

Ethan Shurick, 36, arrived in SeaTac at 7 a.m. with a camping stove, burritos and some friends to see the Seahawks off.

Like many fans who lined the streets in SeaTac on Sunday, this may be as close Shurick gets to the team for the rest of the season. He doesn’t have tickets to the Super Bowl, which cost at least $3,000on some ticket sales websites as of Friday afternoon.

But Shurick is driving to Phoenix anyway and hopes to score some for less than $1,500.

“It’s a wing and a prayer,” Shurick said.
